> DOCUMENTS A complete visa application form should be accompanied by the following documents:
Passport valid for a minimum of 6 months 2 passport-size photographs Supporting documents (such as proof of employment, or residency) Appropriate visa fee (ask the local Indian Embassy for an update on the applicable fees in your country of residence)
You might want to make a photocopy of your passport, take it to the nearest consulate, and have it certified. It is very important that you carry this certified copy with you at all times, and not the original passport (in case it gets stolen, for instance). The procedures for passport issuing in India can take from 3 to 6 months, so it is not worth risking it.
Salaries are not very high, but money is far more powerful in India than it may be in other countries. You could very easily get used to eating in 5-star hotels, hiring domestic help, and buying the best from the best shops every week. So even if they do not offer you an impressive figure, do not reject it immediately. One of the best ways of looking for a job is browsing through local papers. On this page you will find a list of popular newspapers where you can post and read job ads. It is advisable that you find a job before going to India, so the paperwork for the work visa and residency permit is dealt with sooner. > LOCAL PAPERS HINDUSTAN TIMES: www.hindustantimes.com > FOR MORE INFORMATION INDIA TOURIST OFFICE (ITALY)
