If you wish to work in Estonia, the employer must:

Complete a standard application form for a work permit that can be obtained from regional departments of the Citizenship and Migration Board

Submit an application form to a local authority of the Board of the Labour Market to receive its consent to work in Estonia.

In case you wish to work for several different employers you have to apply for separate work permits (one for each).

A local authority of the Board of the Labour Market should take the decision on whether to give its consent or not, within 15 working days from the date of submission of an application.

If a local authority of the Board of the Labour Market has given its consent for issuing you a work permit, as a general rule, you should apply for a residency permit to the representation of the Republic of Estonia.

The documents you need to submit are the following:

A standard application form for a temporary residence permit

The above-mentioned application form for a work permit, which bears the consent of a local authority of the Board of the Labour Market

Applicant’s identity card and a photocopy

2 photographs (size 4x5 cm)

A document certifying the payment of the state fee, or the exemption from the payment of the state fee

> FINDING A JOB

An organisation that puts young people in contact with the working world was recently created in Estonia. The Tartu YLIA (Youth Labour and Information Agency) opened its doors on May 22nd, 2000, near Toomemägi.

It focuses on young people from 13 to 25 years old. They help them to find a short, middle, or long-term job, depending on their demands.

In any way, the search for a job still relies on adverts in local papers that dedicate a space to job offers.
