> DOCUMENTS The first step for those who want to work in Austria is to make sure that they have the necessary documents required to apply for a work permit.
Before leaving for Austria you should fill in a form that gives you access to medical services abroad, and check that you are up to date with your social contribution payments (i.e. national insurance). You can usually get this form from your local National Health System office.
Residency permit (LICHTBILDAUSWEIS FÜR FREMDE). You can get it from the local police office that is responsible for foreigners (FREMDENPOLIZEIBEHÖRDE). They will ask you for your passport or national Identity Card. > FINDING A JOB Browsing on the internet is the easiest and most convenient way to receive information on the current job market in Austria, and also to view current job offers. You can visit the various AMS offices and/or search for job offers in other websites. The AMS offices are also in contact with the various BIZBERUFSINFORMATIONSZENTREN, which were created to help those who are looking for a job for a short period of time. There are many opportunities for seasonal work in Austria: since tourism is one of the most profitable industries in Austria, there are many job opportunities in the high season (from April to September).
